Business Systems Engineer
ClickUp
Job description
At ClickUp, we're building the future of work: the first truly converged AI workspace unifying tasks, docs, chat, calendar, and enterprise search, all supercharged by context-driven AI. We are an AI-native company. Every team member is expected to leverage AI daily, and we evaluate AI fluency as part of our hiring process. Join us and help redefine what's possible. Job Summary As a Business Systems Engineer on the GTM Engineering team, you will design, build, and operate the automation and AI systems that power ClickUp's Go-To-Market business — spanning core business products and the integration platforms that connect them. This role is AI-native at its core: you won't just maintain existing workflows, you'll actively advance our GTM systems with intelligent agents, LLM-powered automations, and next-generation integration patterns built on MCP, ClickUp Super Agents, and modern iPaaS tooling. You'll sit at the intersection of business systems architecture and applied AI — partnering with Sales, Finance, Revenue Operations, and fellow GTM Systems engineers to eliminate toil, accelerate revenue workflows, and build the automated, AI-augmented infrastructure the company runs on. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone deeply fluent in enterprise business systems, excited about deploying production AI, and committed to genuine ownership of the platforms they build — directly supporting GTMSOE's broader mission of operational excellence across the GTM org. Key Responsibilities AI-Native Automation & Agent Development Design and build AI-powered automations and agentic workflows across the GTM tech stack — including Salesforce, NetSuite, Workato, and MuleSoft — to eliminate manual effort and accelerate business operations. Develop and deploy ClickUp Super Agents and LLM-based automations to automate tasks such as deal data enrichment, quote generation assistance, order validation, revenue recognition triggers, and exception handling in quote-to-cash workflows. Architect and implement MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations that allow AI agents to interact with business systems contextually and safely — enabling intelligent, event-driven actions across the GTM platform. Explore and evaluate emerging AI capabilities (RAG, fine-tuning, multi-agent orchestration) and determine which are production-ready for GTM business systems use cases. Build reusable AI templates, automation patterns, and agent blueprints that can be extended across the GTM Engineering team. Business Systems Integration & Architecture Build and maintain integrations across Salesforce, NetSuite, Workato, MuleSoft, DealHub (CPQ), and other GTM platforms — with a strong bias toward clean architecture, low technical debt, and supportable design. Own end-to-end integration patterns for critical business flows such as lead-to-opportunity, quote-to-cash, order-to-fulfillment, and revenue reporting pipelines. Design data flows and transformation logic that keep business data accurate, consistent, and accessible across systems without creating fragile point-to-point dependencies. Apply a build-vs-buy mindset: evaluate whether a given automation need is best solved with native platform capabilities, iPaaS tooling, or custom code — and make the case clearly. Platform Development & Tooling Build internal tooling, low-code/no-code solutions, and lightweight applications using platforms such as Retool, Replit, or similar to extend business systems capabilities with minimal overhead. Write automation scripts and data transformation logic in Python, JavaScript, or Apex as needed to bridge gaps that platform tooling cannot address natively. Utilize Zapier, Workato, and similar iPaaS platforms to orchestrate cross-system workflows that are maintainable, observable, and well-documented. Own the full lifecycle of what you build: discovery, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing optimization. Reliability, Observability & Continuous Improvement Monitor the health and performance of automations and integrations you own; proactively identify degradation, data inconsistencies, or failure patterns before they impact business operations. Conduct root-cause analysis of integration failures or automation breakdowns and drive durable fixes — not just incident patches. Maintain runbooks and operational documentation so that platform behavior is understandable and recoverable by the broader team. Gather feedback from business stakeholders and iterate on existing automations to improve accuracy, reduce edge cases, and adapt to evolving GTM processes. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Partner with Sales, Revenue Operations, Finance, and Customer Success stakeholders to translate business requirements into well-scoped technical solutions. Work closely with GTM Systems Engineering, DevOps, and BSA teammates on architecture decisions, intake prioritization, and delivery execution. Contribute to the GTM Systems Engineering operating model: maintain task hygiene, communicate proactively on large initiatives, and log AI/automation work in the team's AI Excellence registry. Serve as a subject matter expert for business systems automation and AI — educating stakeholders on what's possible and setting realistic expectations on scope and delivery. Qualifications Experience 3–5+ years in a business systems engineering, systems administration, or integration engineering role. Demonstrated experience building and shipping automations or integrations that delivered measurable business value in production environments. Hands-on experience with Salesforce and at least one ERP platform (NetSuite strongly preferred). Experience deploying AI or LLM-powered automations in a production business systems context — or a clear, demonstrated trajectory toward it. Experience working in a high-velocity environment where you manage multiple concurrent priorities and adapt quickly to changing

This is a Player/Coach role. You will be hands-on leading our core AI infrastructure while simultaneously serving as the people manager and program leader for a specialized pod of Product Managers. You aren't just managing a backlog; you are defining the architectural standards for how 6sense builds and ships AI at scale. Why 6sense? We don’t just surface data—we deliver intelligence and action. Crack the Dark Funnel™: Less than 3% of buyers engage early. We uncover hidden buying signals, decode the “breadcrumb trails,” and help revenue teams connect with buyers in ways they never could before. Act as a formal people manager, responsible for hiring, coaching, and developing a specialized team of PMs. You will define the pod's operating model, ensuring clear boundaries between platform infrastructure and agentic capabilities. Own the AI Orchestration Layer. Personally drive the design and evolution of our core orchestration engine, ensuring robust state management, tenant routing, and high-performance runtime for intelligent workflows. Modernize the Developer Experience. Design and maintain the internal SDKs and capability registration patterns that allow other teams to build, register, and call intelligence tools within the AI OS. Define Evaluation and Trust Standards. Build the frameworks, guardrails, and security protocols that ensure our AI outputs remain accurate, evidenced, and enterprise-grade across the entire platform. Lead Foundational Model Strategy. Drive our model strategy, including routing logic, cost optimization, and compute infrastructure management to maximize both performance and efficiency. Be a Strategic Partner to Leadership. Act as a force multiplier for the Head of Intelligence Product—surfacing technical risks early, driving clarity in platform architecture, and turning AI strategy into operating reality. Strategic Themes You'll Drive The Infrastructure of Reasoning. Shift the organization from hard-coded logic to a dynamic orchestration model, providing the "plumbing" that makes multi-step agentic tasks possible. Contract-First Platform Development. Define the technical contracts that allow teams to consume AI capabilities in a self-serve, standardized manner. Platform Efficiency & Scalability. Ensure the AI OS is built for enterprise scale, managing the balance between rapid innovation and the rigorous demands of global B2B environments. What You'll Bring People Leadership. Proven experience building and leading product teams. You know how to mentor senior PMs, manage performance, and create environments where technical builders thrive. Technical Mastery. Deep, hands-on expertise with the modern AI stack. You’ve personally architected orchestration layers, developer platforms, or complex distributed systems at scale—not just sponsored the work. Operating Rigor. You build operating rhythms that scale, drive clarity in ambiguous environments, and turn messy cross-team dependencies into clean execution. Systems Thinking. You see the whole system—strategy, org, data, and execution—and know which lever to pull when something is stuck. Experience. 8-10+ years in Product Management, with a focus on AI, Platform, or Infrastructure, including 3-5+ years of formal people management experience in a high-growth environment. Why You’ll Love This Role Impact: You are architecting the Foundational AI Operating System of 6sense—the underlying infrastructure that every other agentic workflow across the company relies on to function. Innovation: You get to define the technical standards for agent orchestration and model routing at enterprise scale, solving infrastructure challenges most companies haven't even encountered yet. Growth: Join a rocket ship, learn every day, and accelerate your career in a collaborative, high-energy environment. Fun: We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. The blueprints are not a static reference document — they are the primary mechanism for feeding validated, field-tested segment intelligence into Product, Policy, R&D, and Marketing, so those functions build roadmap, positioning, and regulatory strategy around real account behavior rather than assumption. The person in this seat reports to the Vice President of Sales, North America and acts as the connective tissue between account-level reality and company-level decisions. Own this as a standing feedback loop with defined cadence, not a one-time handoff Generate new growth with major market movers within each sub-segment Maintain and refresh blueprints against market, competitive, and policy shifts; define and track KPIs that indicate segment traction and blueprint accuracy Strategic Account Management Own relationships for a portfolio of top-tier public charging accounts; be the primary point of accountability for account health, growth, and retention Lead negotiation and contract structuring for major, complex, multi-year agreements Drive footprint expansion within key public charging accounts, deepening existing relationships to secure large, repeat business Coordinate cross-functional pursuit teams (sales, marketing, legal, finance, product) on major RFPs and large bids, using blueprint data to sharpen proposal strategy Cross-Functional Enablement Act as the primary conduit from account and field intelligence into Product, Policy, R&D, and Marketing — accountable for ensuring blueprint insight measurably changes what gets built, priced, and messaged, not just that it gets reported Provide business case analysis, financial modeling, and ROI assessments to support major pursuits and investment decisions Track performance of segment strategies against plan; adjust blueprints and account plans as the market evolves Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA a plus 10–15 years of experience in business development, strategic account management, or strategic planning, with at least 5 years managing multi-regional field sales teams; EV, energy, or technology sector background required, with public charging market exposure strongly preferred Skilled at building executive-ready presentations (PowerPoint) that translate complex data into clear narratives for internal and external stakeholder Comfortable leveraging AI and automation tools to accelerate research, analysis, and content development Strong analytical and financial modeling skills Track record of building and managing top-tier commercial relationships, and of translating account-level insight into cross-functional influence with Product, Policy, R&D, and Marketing Ability to think strategically and act operationally — able to convert high-level goals into segment blueprints and account plans that other functions can act on directly Proficiency in market research, data analysis, and presenting findings to internal stakeholders and leadership In-depth understanding of the e-mobility industry, public charging infrastructure, and energy markets highly preferred Willingness to travel domestically as business needs require Location Atlanta, Los Angeles, Campbell, Phoenix We are committed to an inclusive and diverse team.
